With the ES, this means your stop loss must be no more than 8 ticks (2 points). With the MES, you could afford a much wider 80-tick stop loss while maintaining the same dollar risk. Contract Correlation
Understanding how different futures contracts correlate with each other is important for managing portfolio risk. The ES and NQ are highly correlated, typically moving in the same direction 80-90% of the time. Holding positions in both contracts simultaneously does not provide meaningful diversification because they tend to move together. If you want exposure to both, you are usually better off choosing the one that best fits your strategy and focusing your capital there.
Crude oil has a moderate positive correlation with equity indices. When the economy is strong, both oil and stocks tend to rise. However, oil-specific events like OPEC decisions or supply disruptions can cause it to diverge from equity markets.
